— Noralee McCaskey, Columbiana, was cited for failure to yield following a two-vehicle crash on Oak Street at 8:19 a.m. Tuesday in which she was westbound on Main Street, stopped at the stop sign at Main and Walnut streets, then proceeded through, striking a southbound vehicle driven by Marilyn Heddleson, Leetonia. No injuries were reported.

— A deputy responded at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday to the 1300 block of Willow Lane in Yellow Creek Township for a barking dog, finding a large dog barking quite a bit inside a fenced-in area in front of a house. The deputy made attempts to make contact, but no one answered the door and there were no vehicles in the driveway. He planned to check back.

— Deputies were dispatched at 4:24 a.m. Tuesday to Middleton Ace Hardware regarding an alarm activation at the parts department door. All doors and windows were checked, included the fenced-in area, with all found secure.

— A burglary in progress was reported at 1:08 p.m. Monday on Haiti Road in Washington Township where deputies checked the residence and found it secure with no signs of forced entry. Next door neighbors had not seen anyone around the residence.

— A woman from North Lima reported at 12:40 p.m. Monday that her son’s 4-wheeler was taken without permission from a residence on Crestview Road, noting her friend who lives on Crestview Road claimed to have taken the 4-wheeler to her father’s residence in Pennsylvania for safekeeping, but she did not believe that to be true.

— Officers responded to a residence on the 1500 block of Cleveland Street at 2:43 a.m. Wednesday for a report of someone standing outside the residence. Officers checked the area but the individual in question had already left.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Third Street at 2:33 a.m. Wednesday for a possible domestic in progress. Officers contacted two individuals who advised they were not fighting, and officers determined everything was okay.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of Prospect Street at 1:13 a.m. Wednesday for a fire complaint. Officers located the fire and advised the man of the complaint, and ran him through LEADS to attach him to the report and found a warrant out of Columbiana County. Officers confirmed the warrant and took the man, Nickolas Good, 32, into custody charged with aggravated possession of drugs. Good was transported to the Salem Police Department for processing and turned over to the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office.

— Officers responded to a residence on West Fourteenth Street at 10:12 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check on a woman. Officers were unable to contact the woman as they no longer lived there.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 9:12 p.m. Tuesday for a domestic dispute. Officers located two individuals that were having a verbal argument. Officers advised them to stay separate for the night.

— While investigating a separate complaint in the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 8:01 p.m. Tuesday officers overheard a verbal argument between a man and woman in a nearby apartment. Officers contacted them and learned that the incident was verbal only. The woman claimed the man had not been acting like himself lately and doesn’t make sense when yelling at her. However, the man did not want officers’ help or medical attention, and the incident did not meet criteria for emergency admittance to the hospital

— Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday for a theft report. The caller claimed that while doing laundry, her daughter’s cheering gym bag was stolen from the Salem Laundromat. Officers spoke to the manager about obtaining possible video footage of the incident, and officers advised the caller that a report would be made with charges possible pending surveillance footage review.

— Officers responded to the area of Newgarden Avenue for a reported railroad crossing gate malfunction. Officers responded and observed the gate to be working properly.

— Officers responded to the 1500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to deliver a message for the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office. Officers were able to deliver the message.

— Officers responded to city property near the intersection of Salem Parkway East and George Wallace Parkway at 11:38 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a vehicle break in. A window had been broken and someone had trespassed inside. The driver was not on scene at the time but later confirmed nothing was missing.

–Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 1:28 p.m. Monday for an unknown problem. Officers spoke with an employee who advised a man had come into the hospital looking for a woman. The man became upset when he was told the woman was not at the hospital and they departed prior to officer’s arrival.

–Officers responded to the 1700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 12:43 p.m. Monday for a report of three swine in the roadway. Officers located the swine behind a residence, and the owner advised they belonged to the next-door neighbor. Officers were able to contact the owner, Jeremy Barrett, 41, citing him for harboring prohibited animals, and advising him he needs to find other living arrangements for the animals.

–While on Patrol in the 400 block of South Union Avenue at 10:45 a.m. Monday officers observed a green Volkswagen parked to the left of the curb with an expired registration. Citations were issued for both violations, and left on the vehicle’s windshield.

–Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 10:21 a.m. Monday to deliver a message to the resident to contact their daughter. Officers successfully contacted the resident and delivered the message.

–Officers responded to a residence on the 1700 block of Quaker Lane at 9:15 a.m. Monday for a residential security alarm. Officers spoke to a woman who advised she was doing work at the residence when the alarm suddenly went off.

–Officers responded to the area of Park Drive and East State Street at 8:51 a.m. Monday for a wellness check on a man on a bench. Officers contacted the man who had fallen asleep, and advised he was waiting on a ride that was coming from Alliance, and did not need any assistance.

–Officers responded to the 400 block of East School Street at 2:31 p.m. Monday for a motor vehicle break-in. Officers took a report and advised the owner to contact the Police Department if he noticed anything.

— Officers were called to East Clark Street at 11:08 a.m. Sunday to help a boy get into his house with the assistance of his mother.

— A South Washington Street resident came on station at 5:05 p.m. Sunday to report that funds had been stolen from his bank card.

— Police were checking the city park at 2:38 a.m. Sunday when they spotted several subjects fleeing in a vehicle. After stopping the vehicle and speaking with the occupants, they issued the driver a citation for driving under suspension and a warning for being in the park after hours, and warned the two juvenile passengers for curfew. All occupants were transported to the police department and picked up later by a family member.

— At 8:56 p.m. Saturday, a Wood Street resident reported that several juveniles were using foul language toward her while riding their bikes down the street. Officers checked the area but could find no one.

— Officers were dispatched to a residence on Garfield Avenue at 3:12 p.m. Saturday about a telecommunications harassment. An investigation is now pending.

— Kimberly Emes was taken into custody at 12:46 p.m. Saturday on an active warrant through Columbiana County Municipal Court.

— Police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on private property on Moore Lane at 7:41 a.m. Saturday. Upon arrival, police learned that the vehicle belonged to a member of a work crew on a nearby project.

— The key holder of a business on North Market Street called the police at 6:17 a.m. Saturday to report an open door. After checking the premises with police, the key holder believed the door had been left open due to apparent neglect.

— Officers received a call at 1:45 a.m. Saturday about three juveniles acting suspiciously on North Market Street near Dollar General, had their hoods up, then began running into an alley. Officers checked the area but found no one.

— Police were dispatched to East North Avenue at 11:02 a.m. Friday for report of a juvenile assaulting her grandmother. Upon arrival, they transported the girl to the Tobin Center.

— Officers responded to the 60 block of North Market Street at 10:49 p.m. Friday for report of a suspicious person involving juveniles hiding in the bushes between buildings. After fleeing on foot, the juveniles were caught and warned of curfew.

— Police were called to Bacon Avenue at 9:14 p.m. Friday for report of a verbal dispute between several parties, and warned all involved not to contact each other or they would be charged.

— Officers were dispatched to North Market Street at 4:50 p.m. Friday after a homeowner reportedly heard about a little girl being kidnapped on a children’s walkie talkie. After speaking with the child and parents, officers learned that the children had been playing cops and robbers and cleared the scene.

— A pedestrian called the police at 2:48 p.m. Thursday to report that a snake had come out of a storm drain and scared them. Upon arrival, police had negative contact with the snake.

— Officers received a call from West Martin Street at 6:08 p.m. July 27 about someone who had put an unwanted item on a vehicle.
